The DeBose and Navarro Families: Fall 2006 Update

The Coalition is assisting the DeBose family -- Noel and Denise and their high-school aged sons Brian and Stephen and college-aged Noel Jr. They were displaced from their New Orleans hometown by Hurricane Katrina and initially lived with relatives in the Santa Clarita Valley while working hard to rebuild their lives and careers back home.

Flooded Louisiana Libraries Get 97,000 School Books PDF Print E-mail
The Santa Clarita Valley Disaster Coalition shipped 97,000 elementary school library books on a Camelot Moving & Storage truck on Friday, May 5, 2006, headed for Houma, Louisiana, a town hit hard by flooding caused by Hurricane Rita.

 

Donated by the citizens of the Santa Clarita Valley, in northwest Los Angeles County, California, the books arrived in Louisiana a few days later, and were distributed to six elementary school libraries in Houma, a small community that expressed great appreciation.
